Angioplasty
An Angioplasty is a medical procedure carried out by an interventional radiologist who is a specially trained doctor in this procedure. The Angioplasty is performed in the Radiology Department. This non-surgical procedure is used to open up blocked or narrowed arteries. A catheter (a small tube) is inserted into the affected artery. There is a balloon at the end of the catheter, when this balloon reaches the area of the blockage it is inflated to stretch out the artery, improving the blood flow through this area. In order to direct the catheter into the exactly the right place for the angioplasty the radiologist uses X Rays and contrast (X Ray dye)
Aspiration
The removal of fluid from a lump, which is often a cyst, with a needle and syringe.
